The Retrofit Timeline: An Important Guide

A breakdown of the Retrofit:

It is essential to stay well-informed about the retrofit timeline that applies to companies engaged in international travel, and those with vehicles exceeding 2.5 tons engaged in international travel. Journeying to Northern Ireland is regarded as traveling internationally as well.

Important Retrofit Timeline:

This essential timeline is designed to ensure compliance with the tachograph retrofit:

  • Before the 31st of December 2024, Mandatory retrofit for all Analogue & Digital Tachographs engaged in international journeys.

  • Before the 18th of August 2025, Mandatory retrofit for all G2V1 tachographs engaged in international journeys.

  • From the 1st of July 2026, In all goods vehicles above 2.5 tons, engaged in international journeys.

Ensure You Plan Strategically:

We strongly encourage companies to plan diligently and consider initiating their retrofit programs promptly. It would be wise to plan your G2V2 retrofit around your vehicles next calibration and fit a G2V2 tachograph as part of your vehicles next calibration date, providing that date is before the 31st of December 2024.

Ensuring Further Compatibility for Download Data:

If you have a G2V2 tachograph, it is essential to ensure the compatibility of your tachograph download tool. A G2V2 incompatible download tool could impede the download process, potentially leading to compliance breaches.

If you already possess a tachograph download tool, you may be required to update its firmware to ensure seamless compatibility. Alternatively, if the existing tool is incompatible, investment in a compatible download tool is needed.
