IRU Safeloading & Cargo Securing Course
The IRU Safe Loading and Cargo Securing programme helps drivers and transport teams reduce risk, prevent load movement incidents and demonstrate safer, more compliant practices across the transport chain. The course is based on the IRU International Guidelines on Safe Load Securing for Road Transport, incorporating up-to-date international standards, including EN 12195-1 principles used across European load securing practice.
It is suitable for drivers, fleet supervisors, loading staff and transport management, because safe loading is a shared responsibility. Training combines practical, real-world techniques with clear guidance aligned to best practice referenced by the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland.
About The Course
This IRU programme focuses on correct loading and securing measures for different cargo types, helping reduce damage, disruption and safety incidents. It is built around internationally recognised safe load securing guidance and practical application in day-to-day transport operations.
What We’ll Cover
Safe loading and unloading principles, selecting appropriate securing methods, understanding load movement forces, choosing and using lashings correctly, applying best-practice checks, and improving consistency across driver and yard procedures. Participants leave with clearer accountability, safer habits and stronger audit readiness.
