What Is the VDO KTCO Adapter?

The VDO KTCO Adapter extends the WorkshopTab II to support the calibration and testing of analogue tachographs – the round-dial tachographs that preceded digital devices. It connects to the WorkshopTab II via the Workshop Link and allows the full calibration and test sequence for analogue tachographs to be carried out from the WorkshopTab II.

Without the KTCO Adapter, the WorkshopTab II cannot service analogue tachographs. For workshops that still service vehicles fitted with analogue devices, the adapter is a required addition to the WorkshopTab setup. A separate KTCO licence for the WorkshopTab II is also required.

What the KTCO Adapter Supports

The KTCO Adapter connects via the Workshop Link and enables the following functions on supported analogue tachographs.

  • KTCO 1318 calibration and equivalent third-party tachographs (e.g. SE8400)
  • TCO 1314 testing and calibration
  • W-measurement
  • K-factor adjustment - with graphical indication of how to set it
  • Distance measurement
  • Variable speed measurement

Two Supply Options

The KTCO Adapter is available in two configurations depending on your existing workshop equipment. If your workshop already has a CTC and the required cables, the adapter-only option is appropriate. If you are starting from scratch, the full package includes cable.

Yes. Analogue tachographs remain in service on older commercial vehicles registered before digital tachographs became mandatory. These vehicles still require periodic calibration. Workshops servicing a mixed fleet – including older vehicles – need the KTCO Adapter to carry out compliant calibrations on analogue-fitted vehicles using the WorkshopTab II.
