What Is the VDO WorkshopTab iI?
The WorkshopTab II is the latest all-in-one calibration and inspection device from Continental VDO. It is designed specifically for use in approved tachograph workshops carrying out periodic tachograph checks, calibrations, and inspections directly on the vehicle.
The device manages the complete calibration workflow on a single unit, from running the calibration sequence to processing documentation and printing certificates. Data transfers from the vehicle to your printer at the touch of a button, with no separate PC or parallel software required.
The WorkshopTab II supports all DTCO® and Stoneridge variants, and is fully equipped for the additional calibration requirements introduced with Smart Tachograph Version 2 – including GNSS testing, DSRC interface testing, KITAS 4.0 sensor registration, software and map updates.

Is the WorkshopTab II compatible with Smart Tachograph Version 2 (DTCO® 4.1)?
Yes. The WorkshopTab II is certified for the full DTCO® 4.1 calibration sequence, including all requirements introduced with Smart Tachograph V2 – GNSS testing, DSRC testing, KITAS 4.0 registration, mandatory software and map updates. It is the required device for workshops intending to service DTCO® 4.1 vehicles.
What are mandatory DTCO® 4.1 map updates and how are they installed?
EU Regulation 2016/799 (as amended by Implementing Regulation 2021/1228) requires periodic map updates to be installed on DTCO® 4.1 tachographs at the next periodic calibration at the latest. The WorkshopTab II automatically detects whether an update is required and guides the technician through installation. The WorkshopTab Update Cable is required for this function and must be purchased separately.
Workshops unable to install these updates cannot complete a fully compliant DTCO® 4.1 calibration.
